Langtang

Langtang Trek, one of the short treks from Kathmandu Valley, is less crowded yet rewarding. Langtang can be a perfect trek destination if you are in a rush and want to experience the best of nature near Kathmandu.

 

You can decide the regions you want to explore with the number of days you have. It can be a short days hikes or week-long venture, making it to the glacier lakes. Langtang, having more than seventy glacier lakes, with different sizes, is famous for Gosaikunda Lake, and some other popular lakes are Bhairavkunda, Dudhkunda, and Parvatikunda. 

 

Though the region was severely affected due to the 2015 Earthquake, the reconstruction and rapid renovation efforts have allowed reopening the area for trekking. With Tamang people having Tibetan origin, living in the region, the locals are friendly and welcome tourists with broad smiles on their faces.

 

You will enjoy the locals' cultures, craftsmanship talent, unique dress, traditionally built stone houses, carved wooden porches, and mouth-watering food delicacies. Langtang National Park, bordered in the north by the Himalayan crest, with Langtang Lirung (7,245 m), most towering peak of the region, has Chimse Danda ridge and Ganja La Pass on the south.

 

Dhunche, headquarter of Rasuwa, is the starting point of the trek. You can receive several facilities from Dhunche and Syabru like hiring trained guides, potters, buying trekking gear, booking hotels, etc. The Gosaikunda region will provide you meat-free meals because Gosaikunda is a pilgrimage with a temple near the pond. Mainly grown vegetables in the region wheat, maize, potato, and soya bean. The meals are simple, and the prices of accommodations and food are reasonable.

 

You can even charter Helicopter and enjoy an aerial view of the Langtang area. The beautiful rhododendrons cover the entire region, making the views elegant and worth it.
